The former captain of Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions Rigobert Song has been successfully evacuated to France on board a medicalised aircraft.
His evacuation was financed by the Cameroonian government.
Upon arrival in Paris, the 40 year-old was admitted to the Pitié Salpetriere hospital in Paris where he will undergo treatment.
The former Cameroon international came out of comma late on Tuesday having suffered a stroke at the weekend.
Rigobert Song represented Cameroon 137 times between 1993 and 2010 and later became coach of the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon.
He has won two African cup of nations for the Indomitable Lions and has also made 4 world cup appearances for his country.
During this difficult moment of his life, Song has received several goodwill messages from football lovers around the world wishing him a speedy recovery.
